A Few More Flowers

Hibiscus on a bug free day.

Bromeliad, possibly a Portea petropolitana. These blooms last forever and slowly change color over time.

A Ruellia, try and find out what species.

Acalypha hispida, Chenille Plant.

Getting ready for the fireworks show, Clerodendrum quadriloculare.

If you need more flowers I have plenty to see.

A bunch of Color Monsters.

Could there be some primal genetic wiring in us for color?

Yeah -- the color monster in us can be especially voracious in the cold, drab wintertime. In the northern latitudes, most of us are daydreaming about the warm springtime with all its brightly colored daffodils and tulips and such.

Since I don't see more than a few hours of daylight each day, I don't tire of the subdued colors (or sometimes blinding white) of wintertime like most people do -- but I sure do miss the warmth. For me, seeing the colorful flowers blooming makes the happy association that warm days have finally returned again.
